Communication is excited to present an evening of loud post-punk fun.
Nonagon is a punk rock trio from Chicago, IL. They tend to play short, loud songs with unconventional hooks and occasionally weird time-signatures. They have been around for a looooong time but, after a string of EPs and 7″s, they only just now released their first full-length album… during a pandemic… Nice timing, fellows!
“Wall-to-wall with twisting bursts of husky, half-harmonized vocals, vivifying guitar riffs that perfectly balance acerbic with sweet, and brawny rhythms that inject the melodies with locomotive force.” — The Chicago Reader
Daughters of Saint Crispin is a band from Madison WI. We arrogantly describe ourselves as “a doomy Big Black” or “Godflesh playing Codeine songs”. In reality, we’re just two post-punk vets (ex-Tyranny Is Tyranny, United Sons of Toil, Droids Attack, Poor Man’s Therapy) playing noisy slowcore. Drum-machine-driven rigidity and tension fuels heavy, unforgiving songs of lament. It’s deliberate minimalism — avoidant and restricted — with extended passages of strangled tremolo picking and polished, effects-coated bitterness.
